Blue Skies for Our Children

Honda keeps our future mind with every environmental leap forward.

In the 1970s, Honda engineers took on the challenge to meet the stringent new emissions standards of the U.S Clean Air Act.
They used the passionate rallying cry of "blue skies for our children" to spur them on to greater things.

Again, in 2011, we are using this as our environmental mantra to help us go above and beyond.

Our initiatives include:

New CO2 emissions targets

In 2006, Honda set its own environmental target. The goal was to lower all CO2 emissions on our global products by 10%
by the end of 2010- based on the year 2000 levels. We achieved this, and now want to go that step further.

Honda has now set a target to reduce CO2 emissions from all global products by 30% by the end of 2020 - again based
on the year 2000 levels.

In addition, we will also reduce emissions across the board, in all of our corporate activities.

Product Recycling - reduce, reuse, recycle

Honda aims to minimise the use of fossil fuels and resources that have been newly recovered from the earth.

We do this by:

  • Parts Recycling and recovering oil filters and replacement bumpers
  • Designing products that are superior in performance in accordance with the reduce, reuse, recycle principle
  • Implementing economical and effective recycling measures. We use the feedback in new product development.
  • Giving priority to designs that allow for reusability and reduction of energy needed for recycling
