The Odyssey Experience

Driving a Honda Odyssey is like driving a car - it feels good on the road, it handles well, and there's plenty of power when you need it. |

Writes Matthew Hawke
When we were planning for this road trip we both agreed we were not prepared to drive around the whole country with three kids in one back seat. The bickering and cramped space would drive us all insane. Most MPV's are like a van, and seven seater cars don’t have enough space or the seats are too small. This is where Honda comes in. Niki's choice was the Honda Odyssey, but I thought it would be too small. Niki insisted and we went and had a look. To my surprise not only did it have enough seats for seven comfortably but it had good luggage space as well. After a drive I was converted. We met with Honda New Zealand and before we knew it were driving around the country in a Honda Odyssey. This is my chance to tell you what it was like. |

Driving a Honda Odyssey is like driving a car - it feels good on the road, it handles well, and there's plenty of power when you need it. Although it is a long car, the length only seems to make the handling better. It was a joy to drive, and there were a couple of times when we didn't have the kids and got the chance to enjoy some of New Zealand's winding roads to their fullest. There is power if you need it and a smooth flow when you don't. |
"The only thing we regretted with the Odyssey was giving it back." |

We often felt like we were cocooned from the world in a safe bubble, all while having a wide field of vision to enjoy the beautiful New Zealand scenery. The windscreen wraps around and the view is glorious. And with the positioning of the seats, everyone in the car can see out the front at all times. Dual air conditioning kept us all comfortable, and six CD's and iPod input gave us great sounds. But it's the little things that really made the difference. The ease with which the far back seats can be put forward to get out, just put your foot on the pedal, automatic lights and an electric driver's seat which made changing driving positions easy. And there are many nooks and crannies that always seemed just right for the things we put in the car. The only thing we regretted with the Odyssey was giving it back. Book a test drive today.
